Initial Support Block: £240

Designed to be supportive and flexible, this block provides a positive first step in understanding and developing your child’s communication.

The children I usually work with often need more than a single appointment for me to gain a clear and accurate picture of their strengths, needs and learning style. It can take time for a child to feel comfortable, for us to build trust, and to understand the complexity of their communication profile. This block allows time for that, while also beginning practical, meaningful support straight away.

This package includes three appointments, planned around what will be most helpful for your child and family. In most cases, the first session takes place at your home.

Across the three appointments, we may include a combination of:

  • Home visits

  • Nursery or school visits

  • Parent sessions (in person or online)

During this time, I observe and assess your child’s communication through play, interaction and discussion with the people who know them best. At the same time, we begin trying out practical strategies together. Rather than completing a one-off assessment and handing over a report, I use this period to notice what works, adjust as needed, and build confidence step by step.

You’ll receive feedback as we go: this might include verbal feedback, follow-up emails or videos, helpful resources, or brief written summaries.

Most families start here if their main goal is therapy rather than a formal report. For detailed reports (e.g. for school or EHCP processes), please see other assessment options below.

N.B. The Initial Support Block is payable in advance, upon booking. If it becomes clear that fewer sessions are needed, I will discuss appropriate next steps or credit towards future support.

  • The detailed assessment package is suitable for families seeking a thorough, standalone evaluation of their child's communication needs, particularly where ongoing sessions are not required.

    The exact format is discussed and agreed in advance, but usually includes:

    • Two or three 60-Minute appointments with your child

    • A 45-Minute appointment with parent(s)

    • A comprehensive written report detailing the assessment, findings, and specific recommendations for home and school use.

  • For families requiring detailed assessment and reporting for Education, Health, and Care Assessments / Plans (EHCPs) in England.

    The EHC Assessment and Report is priced from £500 upwards. Please contact me directly to discuss your specific needs and obtain a tailored quote.

Please note: initial assessments are face-to-face only. Seeing and interacting with your child in person is essential for me to understand how they communicate and to plan safe, effective therapy. Once we’ve met in person, online sessions for ongoing therapy or parent advice can work well. I don’t offer initial assessments online.

Therapy sessions are tailored to your child and may include direct work, parent coaching, review sessions, or advice appointments. Sessions can take place at home, nursery or school, in clinic, or online.

Each appointment is charged at £80, with up to 60 minutes of contact time.

Therapy: £80 per session

Other tasks may be included in your child’s care package, such as attending meetings, writing detailed reports, or creating resources for home use. These will be discussed and agreed upon in advance, typically charged at a rate of £80 per hour.

Other tasks

The fee for training sessions depends on the requirements for that particular course: number of attendees, location, and whether it is a bespoke or standard package. Prices start from £100 for a one hour standard session. Please contact me for more information.

Training      

I charge 65p/mile for travel to and from visits to home, school or nursery. No travel fees are payable for sessions at Durham Therapy Centre. Please see my terms and conditions for full details.

Travel 

Invoices are sent immediately after each appointment and payable within 14 days, except for the Initial Support Block, which is payable upon booking. I prefer payment by bank transfer, but card payment via the link on the invoice is also available. See my terms and conditions for full details
